FAQ

How Does the $149 Stealthsonic Compare to the DEWALT DXV12P?

If you see $149: DEWALT Stealthsonic Quiet 16-Gallon 6.5 HP Corded Wet/Dry Shop Vacuum with Accessories(DXV16P-QT) at Lowe's, expect a noticeable step up in run time and quieter operation compared with the DEWALT 12 Gal. 5.5 HP DXV12P at $139.00.

The Stealthsonic’s larger 16‑gallon drum and higher peak power mean fewer stops to empty and stronger pickup on big jobs, while the DXV12P is lighter, more compact, and still excellent for routine shop and garage tasks. Choose the 16‑gal model when you want longer intervals between empties and lower noise, and pick the 12‑gal if portability and a slightly lower price matter more.

Can I Use the Stealthsonic for Wet Jobs and Construction Debris?

Yes, the wet/dry design handles liquids and typical renovation debris like sawdust and drywall dust, and the large drain port makes emptying liquids easier. You should use the correct filter configuration for wet pickup and avoid sucking up flammable liquids or hot ash. For heavy, repeated construction use, the stronger motor and larger tank give you practical advantages, but remember to let the motor cool after long stretches of continuous use to protect performance.

What Maintenance Should I Do and What Warranty Can I Expect?

Keep the cartridge filter clean and inspect hoses and seals for clogs or tears to maintain suction and the quieter operation the Stealthsonic promises. Empty the drum before it gets excessively full and rinse the tank after wet pickup, and replace worn filters to avoid power loss. DEWALT typically backs these shop vacs with a manufacturer warranty and service options, so check the exact terms with Lowe’s or DEWALT for the 3‑year limited warranty details and how to get replacement parts.
